Day 2

This is the first trip several of my cousins and I took to Destin to visit our cousin Mike. He invited us down to take part in the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo. A month long fishing tournament centered in Destin, Florida.

Day 2

Sunrise comes to Destin.
Day two didn't prove to be as productive a fishing day as the previous one. Though we didn't catch much, the sky was blue and the water bluer! A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of working. 'Nuff said! We were joined off and on by dolphins jumping in our wake or racing us to the next spot. It's great watching the creatures. We were also joined by a buddy of Mike's who captained for us that day. That way Mike could get in on some of the action. We seemed to have a lot of break-offs that day. We'd crank and crank, then "pop", the line would break and we'd have to rig again. We felt like we had missed some trophy fish that day. It's amazing that anything could snap 80lb test line! But it did and often. We cruised in and went through the ritual of hosing down the boat, cleaning the decks, dumping the trash and cleaning fish. After cleaning up, we went to yet another good restaurant and had a relaxing supper. Man, fishing makes you hungry!
