day 1: the arrival!

the 1st day of the trip was A GREAT DAY! a great long day... hehehehe...

i woke up at 5am... i picked marianna up at 6 am... we were flying at 8+15 am... he had so litlle sleep, but because of the excitment we couldnt sleep during the flight! anyway... we arrived at dusseldorf airport at about 12++ where Lauro was waiting for us! he took us to the hotel so we can leave our luggages &start touring the city! before we go anywhere, the 3 of us needed a coffee (cause Lauro was also tired)... so we had our coffe & started walking... :)

the 1st place Lauro took us was the street with the expensive shops (i had my 1st starbucks in Duseeldorf... hehehehe) but to go there we had to walked accross a beautiful park! i love parks, the 'green', the water, the animals, tha fact that people have a place to rest in a city! me &marianna were really amazed.

.. maybe because athens is 'grey', dirty & chaotic! after this street (which was amazing... trees all over & water &beautiful people & the fair... & everything) we went to the region where the rich people live! on the other side of the river!!! beautiful architecture (well to be honest i prefer the modern one... but Marianna loved it & Lauro loves it) after that we walked along the bridge... what a beautiful view, the river, the tower, the next bridge!!! (everytime i see landscapes like that i have second thoughts about living in athens... hehehe) we headed to the old town! where we wandered around the small streets with the traditional buildings! we had a stop for lunch & then we continued walking to the 'financial region'. .. for some more architecture!! it was so nice so far!!! :))

but my favourite part was the tower & the modern architecture! we took the tram & we headed for the tower! the feeling was so great... we were 170 meters above the land (little scary but still nice) & the view... wow wow wow!!! we walked by the river we crossed a small bridge & then it was the port... :)) i loved that place, it was the 2nd reason i went to Dusseldorf! all the buildings were so beautiful, so strange... so modern... hehehehe... just beautiful!! Lauro thank u for ur patience, for waiting us for us to take picture, while u were so tired! the day was coming to an end... we had a drink at Lauro's favourite place... we were so tired, after a long day of walking but the feeling was great!

everything was really great.

.. but the best part of the day... the best part of the trip was Lauro!!! it was amazing, he spended the whole day with us, showing us around, explaining everything, having the petience to wait for us while we were taking pics or hear us being amazed with things he's used of! a perfect guide to his own place but not only...! (i think he could guide me in athens as well... hehehe)! the fact that imressed me was... his memory!!! all the things that he remembered about the place itself (streets, buildings, statues... everything) but as well about the way of life! the habits of the people, how they act & why they act like this!
