Trip to Buenos Aires in May of 2008.
Affordable Luxury in Buenos Aires
We stayed in their "lolita" apartment, which was located in the Recoleta/Barrio Norte neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The apartment was spotless and had fresh flowers when we arrived. We had wonderful service and helpful guidance as to activities.

We stayed for 8 days, and the rental fee was about $250 US. It was for a very small studio, but there was hot water, a comfortable bed, tv, internet access and a small kitchenette area with a microwave, refrigerator, cooktop and coffe maker. We were able to get a sense of what it is like to live in Buenos Aires in a way that would have been impossible had we stayed in a typical hotel.

Visit Evita's Tomb in Recoleta Cemetery
On our first day in Buenos Aires we wandered over to this historical cemetery. I had heard it was beautiful and I had seen photos, but in person it was quite impressive.

The cemetery is laid out like a city. The architecture is impressive, there are not simple tombs. Many of them are large enough to walk into and some have seating areas for families to visit their departed loved ones.

The cemetery was created on 1822 and measures 54,000 square meters. Walking through it feels like walking through a small city. We paid our respects to Evita, and then wondered around to other more interesting tombs. Some were in disrepair, and in some wood coffins were visible.

It was eerie yet peaceful at the same time. And there is free admission, although a map will cost you four pesos.
