A Quick Trip South of the Border... I hopped a flight for a quick two night R&R trip to Cozumel Mexico

Day 1: Melia Cozumel and Sunset

After my day at the beach and my refreshing nap in the hammocks at Mezcalitos i drove back across island to the Melia Cozumel.

The last time I was at the Melia Cozumel was during Hurricane Wilma.  I spent 3 days in the hurricane shelter at the hotel with 150 other guests from around the world.

Hurricane Wilma sat on top of the island for 3 days instead of the typical 8 hours and dropped a ton of rain and high winds onto the inhabitants of the island.

when we got out of the shelter there was so much flooding on the island that air travel was not available for 7 days and the cruise piers were destroyed so ships could not dock to get people off island.

Since then Cozumel pulled together very fast and everything on the island is back better than ever.

With friends coming in they wanted to see how the hotel was now and i must say that it is not only back to normal but better than ever.  I would say that it has by far the best beach on the norht side of the island and the hotel itself if great.
