looking for fresh air near jakarta

living and working in jakarta means facing traffic jam, polution, and even flood (often!). thank God I found this 'not so hidden place' nearby, just an hour drive to bogor then up to the hills of cibatok, at the slope of mt. Salak. air is still very fresh, with 'thousands' of waterfalls....and a nice trek to kawah ratu (the crater). i've traveled many times to this place, but never got bored. maybe coz it offers me great nature, clear cool rivers, and skies full of stars at night...:-).
we don't need extra time to be there. i usually go on saturday morning and go back to jakarta sunday afternoon. to get there, my friends and i always choose public transportation, train. the bogor express train is the best choice since it has air conditioners and clean seats, but cost a little higher than the economy class even though it's still reasonable (only IDR 13.
villas are available for rent. on new year's eve two years ago, we rented a very nice villa on top of the hills, with a swimming pool in the front yard, a television, and cozy bed. it cost IDR 900.000 for 2 nights but then the price sounded cheap because 15 of my friends shared the room :p). on ordinary weekends, we try to be as close as possible to nature by sleeping in the 'warung'. most of the warungs offer meals, hot drinks and have simple 'rooms' for visitors to sleep over.
in the next morning, we usually start early either to the waterfalls or take the trek to the crater (which is 2-3 hours hike). i love the trek because it offers me great scene to take, sound of the birds, and sometimes monkeys hanging on the tree in front of me.
