Mines and dreams alive

This time next week I will be packing for my trip in South East Asia. It is so exciting. I love exploring new countries (i don't do this enough) and taking in the character of the country & all its idiosyncracies.

Mines and dreams alive

Cambodia is an inspiring country to visit. When one thinks of the awe inspiring Angkor Wat & the tragedy under the Khmer Rouge it is a country that deserves to be visited.

Siem Reap is quite westernised. This city is filled with shops with a cause (supporting local artists & disadvantaged groups that produce handicrafts to support themselves) to cafe's with scrumptious food! The Tuk tuk drivers are extremely funny. I loved their sense of humour after their offers were declined several times. They took it well.

A highlight for me was hiring a bicycle & visiting the Mine Museum. The Mine museum was a humbling experience. Most of the kids that live at the musuem have lost a limb from the numerous traps & grenades from 20 years ago. They show you around and explain what damage a particular trap or grenade can do. These kids were so inspiring.

Onwards to Angkor Wat. This is awe inspiring!  My personal fave is Preah Kahn. It is believed to be a Buddhist university. I would have loved to have been a student here.
