Arriving in London
June 10, 2008
Thanks to the skymiles program from Delta the flight didn't cost me anything but 25.000 miles and $68 tax. I had planned to visit my friend Angel and her twins for quite some time now. I finally ran out of excuses why not to go so I went.
The flight from Reagan National Airport to Detroit was very pleasant and once I got off the plane in Detroit I had exactly 45 minutes to catch my connecting flight to London, Ontario. This turned out to be no problem at all. I guess I am too used to flying out of D.C. Dulles Airport with their awful shuttle trains. Detroit is very well laid out and the express train (or whatever it is called) is the best way to get around if time is a bit short. I got to my gate and still had time to get my souvenir magnet from Michigan a snack, eat the snack and sit there for another couple of minutes.
After boarding and everything the flight was very quick. In less then 45 minutes we already touched down at the tiny London Airport.
I went through boarder patrol and customs in about 10 minutes, which included them searching my bags. They are also very nosy about your stay. I've never had to answer so many questions while traveling before. However they were very friendly and casual about it. Kinda like chatting to an old friend. I did get a weird look for having one back with all baby clothes and I had to explain myself. lol
My friend Angel and her man were already waiting outside for me. We went to eat and afterwards went to a bar that also offered 5 pin bowling. The first round I thought that I would never get this down, but I did. I actually got pretty good right around the end. lol
It may have had something to do with the "Ceasar" drink we were having. It was delicious and looks just like a Bloody Mary and I really don't know what the difference between the two of them were.
We made our way to Angel's place and that's when I met my god children for the first time! Two little angels. Boy/girl twins. They are the best. They sleep a lot and are very easy to handle while they are awake! Love it! lol
