Linderhof Castle

In 1995, my friend Darla and I embarked on, what can only be discribed as a "Whirlwind" tour: Ten countries in eleven days! No, we weren't crazy, we just wanted to get a taste of EVERYTHING! Neither of us had been to the continent before, so we did what we could.

Linderhof Castle

This was probably the most over the top place I'd ever been to. Posh, extremely luxurious, even gaudy. No wonder King Ludwig died under mysterious circumstances. He must have bled the Germany dry, building Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. Amazing he's such a popular figure in the country. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate. And walking around them is a joy. You'll be in awe of all the splender around you. If you're lucky, you'll get to see the Grotto. I have been here twice, ten years apart, and haven't seen it yet. The pictures are cool, so maybe you'll be more fortunate.
