Cannes-Do
September 14, 1995
We rolled into Cannes and found a place to call home. We decided after all the running we had done across Europe, that we would stay a couple of nights here. We found and checked into the Atlantis Hotel. After a shower we took out for town. We went to the harbor and looked at all the yachets anchored there. We had a very nice seafood meal at a cafe that capped the mortared stones along the shoreline. We sat back and were able to enjoy the the soft breeze and azure tones of the water winking below. We walked off dinner by taking in the beach. While there, we noticed a vending machine that despenced Levi's. And a gumball machine that rolled out bikini's! Since we were in Cannes, we decided to take in a movie. While walking, we had noticed a theater just a block or two from the hotel. We saw "The Usual Suspects". Unfortunately it was dubbed in French and there were no subtitles! Darla nodded off twice, so we left. No use delaying the inevitable. We grabbed a gelatto on the way back and called it a day.

Affordable
Though not the Ritz Charlton, this was a comfortable and affordable little hotel. It was close to our site seeing and had plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. We even caught a movie just down the street. Wish I had spoken French (no subtitles!) :). It is just a block or so from the harbor and the ferry to St. Marguerite. The room itself was comfortable and clean. With two nice beds and a private bath. The price wasn't bad at all. We received a continental breakfast in the morning, complete with croissants jam and coffee. All in all a pleasant experience.
