Fifty five midsummer mojitos in London
August 9, 2008
As we stood there looking at the table, blurry and distorted from the mojitos, reality set in that happy hour was finally over and the 55's two for one offer had ceased for another evening. Not to worry, the table was still heavily laden with untouched cocktails, varying in colour, that it was at least another hour before anyone from this week's mini meet would move on to the next bar.
Several hours previous I had been standing at the London eye waiting for everyone to turn up and drinking and snacking at NAMCO. Alcohol hunger was starting to set in =)
Around the room I began to acquaint myself with some of the people sharing the drinks.
Derek, proper Irish accent with his room mate and long term partner bob. No, Derek's not gay. Bob is a light bulb. His sole reason for exploring the world is to provide light to the world, even though bob appears to be a bulb of leisure and stopped working several years ago. I entertained Bob and Derek with my County Cork accent, swaying slightly under the thumps on my back when Derek felt instantly at home =) The rest of the people holding up the table were, Lori (Canada, I did check her head was whole and she didn't say ABoot!), Wayne (UK), Audrey(US), Bondy(UK), Anna(NZ), Matt(UK) and fresh from the plane was RJ(US and not drinking), Jegs(Poland - I can't be bothered to look up the abbreviation!) and Amy(US) - unfortunately, they couldn't stay for long but to fair I'm sure the conversation was pretty slurred by the time they arrived... or where they there from the start? Who the hell knows?! Probably RJ!!
After that we strayed into a local pub, drank some more and said goodnight to Bob and then meandered over to the Brazilian bar and where Bondy and Wayne passed out..
