So, when my brother says "Anyone fancy a stroll to Clevedon" - it could just be the most exciting this to happen here in months! Cain's friend Charley arrived and she brought with her some sandwiches (thoughtful!!) and I brought some fruit, chips and a litre of water. We headed off across the cricket ground and over the edge of the Severn Estuary and jump down on the cobbles.. and mud! The tide here is very dangerous, it can rise up to 16.5 Meters - so it's always a good idea to keep an eye on your next exit point from the beach.
Strangely for July, it was sunny and as the day wore on it got unbelievable hot! The views on the path of the Estuary and Wales beyond are spectacular. It's hard to believe that in a decade or so, this stretch of water could be transformed by a 15 mile wide barrage that will restrict the tide, destroy masses of habitat and turn the water clear as the sediment settles out. This is what progress is about when the public have little input and there's billions of pounds up for grabs!
It took about 2 1/2 hours to arrive in Clevedon - a victoria seaside town with a pier that has yet to burn down and a supply of ice cream, beer and bar snacks right by the beach!
