Show me, Show me, Show me, how you do that trick...

Oh my GOD!!!!! The Cure! I love the Cure. I can't believe I'm going to see the Cure and see them at the Hollywood Bowl! An amazing band at an amazing venue! For those of you who have never been to the Hollywood Bowl this is a place that is an outdoor amphitheater. You are allowed to bring food in and sometimes you can get away with bringing in alcohol. It's normally between $8-9.00 for beer and $9.00 a glass for Gallo wine...not exactly my taste and too damn expensive for that kind of wine. If you bring alcohol in a plastic container or thermos then you shouldn't have a problem...they bascially are concerned with bringing in bottles and glass. So no wine glasses, no bottles of alcohol!
Well, I took a chance! From my house, I packed a small soft-sided igloo with 2 bottles red wine - a Cabernet and a Malbech plus 2 wine glasses wrapped in kitchen towels so that they wouldn't rattle around as well as a cork screw. Rob and I stopped by a Whole Foods and picked up some munchies...some cheese, some salami, some dried strawberries, crackers and were those gerkins? I think they were, but then again there is always a formal name for those small, tiny pickles. Ummm.....yummy!
We went back and forth about bringing the wine in or keeping the wine in the car. I knew we had no problem with the bag of food from Whole Foods, but how are we going to get the wine in? What the hell? Let's give it a try. I carried the soft-sided igloo - using the shoulder strap on my left shoulder. I then placed my small shoulder handbag on my left shoulder as well. Both items had black straps and I was wearing a black tank top...on my right I was carrying Rob's pea coat and my leather jacket. Here we go...we are going through the line and there is this HUGE sign that states specifically...NO ALCOHOL, NO GLASS and yada, yada, yada....and a guy with a bullhorn adamantly stating no alcohol, no bottles, no glass, etc....yada, yada, yada - oh well I'm going to try and sneak it in. Rob goes through the turnstile first...no problem - they look in his bag and let him in...I'm getting ready to give up my soft-sided igloo and pushed it behind my back and the guard states, I need to see your jackets (they are draped over my right arm) and I'm thinking OMG...I'm totally going to get caught with alcohol and glass....the guard was preoccupied with my jackets on my arm that they let me through the turnstile without checking my handbag and soft-sided igloo on my left side!!!! The WINE GODS must have been on my side! They wanted me to enjoy this concert with wine that I would be able to enjoy! WHOO-HOO!!!!!! Yeah baby!!!! Very cool!!!! Rob and I looked at each other in utter shock and disbelief that I was able to get through with this contraband on my shoulder! Yipee!!!! Kudos to me. As Rob said, "I don't know what kind of Houdini you did, but..." Yes, Rob be amazed by me - stick with me kid and I'll show you the ropes! HAHAHA!!!
We decide to have a cigarette prior to sitting at our seats...because even though it's an open air venue, you are not able to smoke at your seats....ok, I'll listen to the rules now. hee, hee, hee!!! We smoke and are so in shock of how the hell did I just pull that off...we laughed, we shake our heads and we just can't believe that we walked in with contraband! HAHAHAHA!!!!!! YES!!!! We finish our cigarettes and head over to our seats! This is Rob's first time to the Hollywood bowl so I hope he enjoys it. I LOVE the Hollywood Bowl, such a great venue! Bring a picnic and next time I'll throw the wine in a thermos - just in case!
Our seats are right in the middle with a perfect view of the stage! Excellent! This is going to be a GREAT night! The weather was perfect!!! We brought our jackets just in case, but never really needed it because of all the dancing and singing we were doing!
Once the sun started to set and once the couple in front of us arrived and sat down - we popped open the first bottle and poured it into GLASS wineglasses! Hey weren't we not supposed to bring in alcohol, bottles, glass. ...HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! LOL!!!!! Oh well.... Let the concert begin! It was an amazing concert! They played an "oldie" and then a new song and then back and forth....WHOO-HOO!!!! Yipee!!!! HOLY FRIJOLIES!!!!!!! Such a GREAT concert! 3 Encores and the last encore they played 4 "Oldies" ending the concert with "Boys Don't Cry!" What an evening...warm southern Californian night, Excellent Band, wonderful food and wine, and GREAT company! WOW!!!!
