My friend Erika, from work, asked if I would go with her to L.A. Pride a few weeks ago. I said I totally would go! I've been to West Hollywood several times to hang out, party all night at the clubs and just have a great time, but I never had a chance to go to Pride. This was my first time! I got to say, I had a great time!

Erika called me at 8:40 a.m. and I had set up my alarm for 8:55 a.m. so it was pretty close.  And even though I had my cell phone right by my ear, I didn't hear her call! I blame that on going out the night before and coming home early that morning! That's on another blog and another story not yet written. But it will be.

I was very tired! But my alarm did wake me up! She was supposed to pick me up at 10 a.m. So there I go getting up to take my shower and get ready. After I finished I had time to spare. Erika called me at around 9:40 letting me know that she would be a little bit late, maybe like 10:10, not a big difference, so I said that was fine. But I know Erika, so I knew it would be more like, 10:30! I had time to clean my room a bit. I also had time to go to 7-11 and get money out of the ATM! So while I was crossing the street back to my house from 7-11, Erika is turning to get to my house!  So off we go!

We took the 710 N to the 5 fwy to get to the Hollywood 101 fwy. I was dreading it because those 2 last freeways are horrible, but I was glad that they were not busy at all! NO TRAFFIC WHATSOEVER! So we made it to the Melrose exit in about 20 minutes, which in my book it's a record! So as we are driving down Melrose we pass all of those thrift shops and stores that make Melrose popular.

But it was not busy at all! Then again, we are there early in the morning, so I guess it might have been busy in the afternoon. We are getting closer and closer to the begining of the parade because we are noticing more and more traffic!

We finally reached San Vincente which is where the festival entrace is, as well as the parade ending! We found a parking area, but it was $20!!!!  We paid it since we wanted to be close to everything! The day was really nice! And hot!  Not too hot, though!  After we parked we started walking towards the street where the parade was going on, which was on Santa Monica Blvd.  I didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed myself! There was such a diverse crowd! Colors of the rainbow all over! Water fights going on everywhere! It was great!  Couples walking their dogs, others with their children! I loved it!

The floats of the parade were of different variety! Some were funny, others were political, and of course there was one for the Best in Drag show! Even the surrounding super markets had trucks in the parade!  A Mexican celeb was there, Angelica from La Fea Mas Bella.

I myself don't watch novelas, but they are really popular! A lot of charities were in the parade, also. Bikers, parents, kids, grandparents! It was all about supporting the people you love, which is what I did! I went to support my friends and family!

After the parade we went to the festival which had a lot of different tents. Radio stations, free samples of a lot of things like chap stick and lube and spin the wheel for a prize! ! Mortgage lenders, food, alcohol, water, cookies, pictures, clothes, jewelry! There was something for everybody! There was even a children center.  And for us people that love dancing, there was a dance floor for everybody! The first dance floor was at the entrance, which was for house, trance and dance music. There was a hall for country music.

I didn't get a chance to go into that one. Maybe next time! The middle dance floor was for latin music which had all different types of Spanish music from Spanish Rock to Reggaeton. I even line danced to the Achy Breaky Heart in Spanish. We have our own version, too! The last dance floor was for hip hop. I went to 3 of the 4. I also happened to see my friends Patty and Cynthia on the hip hop dance floor. Patty is a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in over 8 years, so I was glad to have seen her again!

I met so many people that day! One couple I still remember because they were nice and really funny! David was a local and John was from Australia and had been living in L.A. for a few months, well more then a few actually. But we were sitting at a bench for a while resting our feet because we had been non-stop dancing and walking for over 5 hours.

They came and sat down next to us and we started to chat. David asked me for my name and when I told him Priscilla, he had a big smile and said that John was going to love me! I was confused at first because I had no idea why. I mean, I'm a great person and everybody loves me, but...haha j/k! But he did say that! So when he told John my name, John got an even bigger smile on his face. Well, later I remembered the movie Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert and it's based in Oz. So I was a bit slow there. Olivia Newton John was performing that night as well. I didn't get to see her! I forgot she was going to perform!

But for anybody that is in town during this time, I will recommend the L.A. Pride Festival.  Even if it is just the parade.
