Eleven and a half months, and twenty countries. The story of a trip round the world with my girlfriend (now wife), Zoe. This blog is the story of ten weeks in southeast Asia

The Cameron Highlands

We hadn't planned where to go after the Perhentians. We got back to the mainland and, slightly on the spur of the moment, bought a transfer to the Cameron Highlands. We ended up, several hours later, at Father's Guest House in Tanah Rata, with a room in an old Nissen hut, which makes a fantastic noise when it rains.

Actually, it rained a fair bit while we were there, which necessitated sheltering in a nice cafe we found, and enjoying cream teas; they're big on strawberries in the Cameron Highlands, and there seems to be a strong influence left over from the British colonial days, which manifests itself in Land Rovers and scones.

One day we went on a mossy forest tour, which took us up to the top of one of the local peaks for views over the surrounding area, followed by a short nature walk through a mossy forest (who'd have guessed it?). We also visited the Boh tea plantation, where we saw tea being picked in the fields and also had a brief tour of the factory.
