Coming from the office

The Mount Manalmon trip some members of my team and I took was an exposure to a weekend of extreme activities of sort. Coming from a 9-hour Friday night shift, we met our guide early Saturday morning and boarded the 3-hour bus ride that led us to San Miguel, Bulacan.

Day 1 was spent exploring living caves, afternoon trekking that stretched till darkness set in and rainy bbq socials that night. Day 2 was spent river trekking, frolicking in wild waters, cooking tuna carbonnara (not my specialty but hey we just came from a long trek, virtually any dish prepared will receive excellent ratings!), rapelling and high wire walking (you have the option to jump into the river afterwards to complete the adrenaline rush).

One of the highlights of our trek included a chance encounter with a Rafflesia flower which is touted to be the biggest flower in the whole world. Endemic only in Southeast Asia, this flower can grow to 2 meters in diameter. The flower looks ordinary but up close and personal, is very stinky (exhibits dead rat fragrance).

Here are some photos that captured our adventure!
