We’re going on a ‘no stan’ ferry ride
This is one of my favourite ferry rides in Sydney. It is a
great way to see the harbour by boat and a quick way of making your way from
the Quay to Darling Harbour. When I lived in Sydney this was the ferry ride I
would bring my visitors on if they wanted to see the city. I like it because
you start at the beautiful Circular Quay where there are fantastic views of the
sparkling Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House; it is a short walk
into the historic Rocks area, where there are many quaint little shops for both
locals and tourists. The Ferry ride takes you under the Harbour Bridge over to
the north side and Luna Park; if you are so inclined, you could hop off here
and go for a ride on the Ferris wheel or any other ride that tickles your fancy
(see my review for discount options).
Guess where we’re leaving from
After Milson Point ferry stop where you hop
off for Luna Park, it is on to Balmain and then Darling Harbour where there are
two stops, one on the city side of Darling Harbour and the second stop on the
western side. The first stop in Darling Harbour is at the Sydney Aquarium
(again, a discount option is available with the Day Tripper transport ticket),
this is where Roby and I disembarked today as we were walking into town and the
QVB and State Library of New South Wales. Normally though, I would hop off the
ferry at the second stop in Darling Harbour and make my way back to the city
via the Monorail, which is a great ride for visitors to do. The monorail takes
you from Darling Harbour around the southern end of the city, the convention
centre, Paddy’s market and china town into the city centre.
