Power weekend trip to celebrate my birthday.

Monuments at night is a must do!!

Started early but the Mall was kind of crazy because the "Walk for the Cure" event was going on.  Painfully humid all day which kept the crowds low.  During the day I was able to tour the Capitol and spent a ton of time at the Library of Congress.  The highlight of the day was the "moonlight" tour I took.  All the monuments are beautiful at night and it really is a totally different experience.  The FDR memorial and the Korean War memorial were nw since I was last in the city and I think the Korean War Memorial is my new favorite.  If you look in the pictures you can see the faces that have been etched in the marble.  You can't really see those during the day and is truly moving to see it at night.  There are 19 statues that create the effect of 38 when reflecting in the marble representing that the war was fought on the 38th parallel.
