A New Day In London

Big Ben on a glorious (and rare from what I had heard) day.
The previous evening could have been disasterous, but being a seasoned traveler in the States, you never put all your chickens in one basket! I lost about $60 and a credit card, but had left the rest in my OTHER wallet back in my room. This was a new and soon to be better day. I got up and headed down for breakfast in the commons. There I met Jill Lambert, a student from West Virginia, USA, studying abroad. We had struck up a conversation when I asked where I could find an AMEX office to replace my credit card. She was helpful and I asked if she had seen any of the sites yet? She herself had just arrived and hadn't. We struck out and bought day passes on the city tour bus that goes to all the attactions around London. It was fantastic weather. Sunny and bright. We rode on top of the doubledeckers all day, stopping at one site or another: Buckingham Palace, Big Ben,  Tower Bridge, Tower of London. The works.  Somewhere in between, I bought lunch because she had been so helpful. We found a pub and had our manditory fish and chips. We had a blast. I bid Jill farewell that evening, as she had plans to attend to. I heard from her over the next year, but lost contact soon after. Too bad we didn't have TravBuddy back then!
