Me @ the second floor of the Tour Eiffel!
Nobody ever believed me when it came up that I have never been to Paris... I am 26 and living in The Hague (The Netherlands). Paris only less than a 5 hour drive away and been in France many times... Up till now I only saw I little bit of the Tour Eiffel when I accidentally got stuck on the Périphérique J. To make it even worse I also have a French Boyfriend for a year now. So it was really time to go and meet Paris!
Since I am leaving in August for Australia and he wanted to take me there before and Mr.
Boyfriend is going on a trip to Alaska in a few weeks we went last weekend!
H. and me @ the Louvre
I had a splendid time! What a beautiful city it is, I know everybody told me up front but I still had to experience it! We left Saturday morning and arrived around noon… Boyfriend H. has a friend living there and he had a spare bedroom so we could spend the night there! (Thanks R.!) He is living in La Defense next to the Grande Arche. It was a very convenient place to stay because we were right at metro 1 and we had a few on the Tour Eiffel from his apartment!
So day one we visited the Tour Eiffel, walked up to the second floor. Than ran off to Montmartre, to visit the Sacre Coeur. Walked downs the hill through the beautiful streets ending up at the Moulin Rouge. After that we took the metro to the Champs Elysée walked around the bit and visit the Arc de Triomphe. We had a nice dinner and headed back to the apartment because we were both worn out from all the stairs we had to walk up and down J
Next morning we left pretty early (for a Sunday) to visit the Louvre, were we went inside to take a look at the Mona Lisa and some other impressive paintings.
When we left around 11 o’clock I was totally amazed by the huge crowd waiting in line to get tickets and waiting for their tour guide. What a huge amount of tourist they have to deal with everyday! After the Louvre we also visit the Notre Dam, Opera, Hotel de Ville and others… Paris is beautiful except that it has a strong smell in certain places, jakkie!
Me @ the Grande Arche ( La Defense )
So i know i am only one of the few who had a recent experience with Paris for the first time but I all really recommend going there t als feel, see (and smell) it! I definetly have some more things to do so need to head back soon, preferably in 3 weeks when the Soldes starts!!!!!!!!! The next time i will visit the catacombes, take i nice boat tour on the Seine and will spend a whole day at the Louvre....
So this is all for now, if somebody had another good idea for the next time i am going to Paris, just let me know!
