Niagara Falls!

Niagara Falls Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I went to visit a friend who is studying in Boston and we decided to make a trip to Bahamas, Nassau. After that we back to Boston then head up to Niagara Falls, Canada. From there we went to Washington D.C. and after that to New York and from New York to back home to Finland..

Niagara Falls!

SkyWheel
Storm had stopped before morning and after 11am it wasn´t raining anymore so we went to see some touristic stuff. First we went to this huge Skywheel and took some pictures and just relaxed and enjoyed the view, it costed 10 Canadian dollars. After that we headed to Maid of the Mist ticket stall. We bought our tickets ($14,50 canadian) and just when we got our raincoats on it started raining like hell! And after a while there was wet snow coming from the sky.. But it was all for our benefit. Because there was maybe 15 people + us on a top deck in that ship! All other peoples where downstairs and trying to keep themselves dry. We were so wet and when I was tooking pictures with my friends waterproof camera it hurt so much when ice pellets hit my frozen fingers.
. But it was so worth it and such an amazing trip! I loved every minute of it. We went so close the Falls that I was sure we wouldn´t be able to get out from that suction. But we did, and when our boat hit the pier, the raining stopped of corse:D But we kept our raincoats on because we didn´t trust mother nature today at all.

After that trip we walked to Canadian Falls and did this other trip called Journey Behind the Falls ($12.60 canadian) So we went behind the Falls and then outside in that platform wich was so close the waterfall that I could almost touch it:D And after that trip I was so wet that there was no cloth in me that was dry. Well, we went to eat and then mother nature propably had decided that she was tortured us more than enough so it started to clear up and after a while sun was shining!! We went to the motel to get some dry cloths and then we headed back and started to walk alongside the Niagara River.
And of corse it started to rain again, well we waited it to stop in some hotel gateway.. We just walked and walked and then we found this Niagara Falls Souvenier Headquaters or what ever the name was. So we bought some souveniers and then we saw two rainbows! It was nice.. Then we headed back and went to eat this Rainforest Cafe. There was animatronic Elephants and gorillas and like ones in 20min there was a "tropical strom"!:D "Animals" went crazy and trees started to shake and so on.. It was really interesting place to eat, and not so expensive after all. After that we went back to motel and searched some bus connections to Buffalo airport because we had to be there tomorrow morning to catch our flight to Washington D.C.!

Must-do when you are in Falls..
Like the brochure says "It´s not just a boat ride, it´s an adventure"! When I did this in Canadian side Falls it was raining and other stuff like wet snow was coming from the sky. But it was good, because it wasn´t so crowded that it usually is. It was really cool, and I would recommend it to anyone. But you will get wet in this for 100% sure.. But who cares? It´s THE Falls, you are suppose to get wet around there!:D

It costed $14,50 for adult, $8,90 for children (6-12 years) and children under 5 its FREE, so not that bad after all. And this is of course Canadian dollars.

It is also accessible to the physically challenged.

It´s open from May to October.

There is the basic info and more you can find from their website www.maidofthemist.com
Near the HorseShoe Falls.

Feel the Thunder..
Like the title says, you could feel the water roaming down the fall. Journey Behind the Falls is amazing experience. To get here you should go to Table Rock Center and there is a big sign that says "Journey Behind the Falls". It costs $12,60 CA and whole thing will take probably about 30 minutes. You will take an elevator down and then you will get a raincoat and after that you are behind the falls. You could see the water roaming down from this observation holes. There is some information boards about the falls.

And you will get in a upper and down observation desk just beside the Horseshoe fall! You could stand in the mist and get really really wet! The upper observation desk is accessible to weelchair but not the down observation desk because of the stairs that lead there.

But I will recommend this attraction but it´s not so amazing that Maid of the Mist obviously.

Adventure and Dining
It was my first time in a Rainforest Cafe so for me it was an unique experience. It was one weird cafe:D There was animatronic elephants and gorillas and other animals too that moved. Elephants and gorillas makes noise also every 15 minutes and "came to live". Also there is a tropical strom in every 20 minutes. Then lights starts to flash and then you hear the thunder and all the animals go crazy and starts to move and make noises:D

Food there was great and staff will guide you to your table. And it don´t take long when you have your food in front of you. And it´s not that price after all.

And outside of the coffee, or above it there is a 80 foot ERUPTING volcano. It´s just one crazy place.. :D
SkyWheel in Niagara Falls
You could see both American and Canadian Falls and of corse the whole town. It is really nice, and the view is worth whole $10, but after a while it is nothing special. Not boring, but there is not much to see but the falls. It takes about 10 minutes to complete the ride and it costs 10 Canadian Dollars. And you could get some good pictures because the gondolas windows where really clean.

But I would recommend it to everyone who wants to see the falls from above. You will get a pretty good idea how big those things really are and how amazing it is. Mother Nature has made a pretty good job to make these things. :D
