Monday was the start of the activities with the 1st one for us being the Lonestar & Friends Strike Out for the Kids Bowling Party. This was a benefit for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and was held at HERMITAGE LANES & was $25. Many country artists were participating in this including LONESTAR
CHRIS YOUNG- Nashville star winner, Titans player- ALBERT HAYNESWORTH and many others. There were 32 bowling lanes & each one had at least one singer.Papers were handed to us & Bernie's words to me "Another fine mess you've gotten me into" as we found out that Bernie was picked to bowl in the 1st group. We didn't know until later who she would be bowling with. Neither of us are good bowlers so we were hoping that we wouldn't get picked! Although the majority of people would be watching the celebs instead of us. There was a BBQ dinner before the games began. Then at 7pm they anounced which singer was in each lane & Bernie was bowling with AaRON BENWARD from the duo group Blue County. People that weren't picked to bowl including me were not allowed down with the bowlers and had to stay behind the wall. Bernie bowled for a little bit then walked around to the other lanes meeting other country artists. She met Pinmonkey (Barbed Wire & Roses) & had them wave to me which made my night. Then she met CARRIE UNDERWOOD, JIMMY WAYNE & IRA from TRICK PONY and got her picture taken with all of them. Jimmy seemed to be having a blast, always smiling & signing autographs. Bernie said Carrie was nice but seemed overwhelmed with everything. Some stars seemed happier to be there than others. I was unable to get a picture of Carrie because 75% of the people there were in front of her lane. There was a bidding table for each stars bowling shirt & the highest bid went for Carrie Underwood's.
In between games JIMMY WAYNE & DEAN SAMS from LONESTAR got on the wall & started dancing & of couse all of the women (including myself) started screaming because they were acting like they were going to strip & even had the music to go with it! lol I took a video since they were really working the crowd. After the games were done Dean was signing autographs. I didn't have anything for him to sign so I got my picture with him. He was a nice guy. This was alot of fun & I hope to attend next year.
