The volcan arenal tour and hotsprings is extremely good value and great fun, our package included - trek of nature reserve Arenal, watching wildlife, Close view of Lava flow, and visit to the hotsprings. all for $24 or if your english thats just under 12quid...
I reconmend this tour if you are La Fortuna, its worth every penny, as it was amazing seeing the lava flow so close, it was like bonfire night, the glow from the lava is errie, but amazing, the trek in the reserve is simple and interesting, the guides all speak very good english, and they take small groups, so you wont feel left at the back.
The hotsprings are ok, tho be warned they are very expensive if you fancy having a drink, a pepsi in a bottle cost 1,200colones and dont even want to know how much a beer or vodka was, i dont think my budget would let me..
Most hotels do this tour, and there are lots of companies in the main town, so it is widely available, tho we went with eagle tours, who if the volcano is clouded over and you see no Lava, they will take you a second night, no extra charge.. this tour is defo worth your time
