I arrived in Xian two days ago from Hong Kong. What im doin here is working with Kindergartners at a primary school called Drum Tower. I start on Tuesday because I arrived in the middle of a national holiday here that has to do with the death of someone famous and a dragon. Immediatly when I arrived I was overwhelmed with other volunteers anxious to meet me and take me on a tour of the city. We traveled all over the first day going places such as Little Wild Goose Pagoda and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. We also saw the wall that surrounds the inner most part of the city. Its a closed four wall box that has four gates, and is very amazing to see. After walking all afternoon we got a cab back to the apartment and had a great meal. Everything here so far has been great but im still a little hesitant to eat squid. I still cant get over how many people live here. There are 8 million people who live here and there everywhere. I went on a jog this morning and it was the only time that i really didnt see either cars or people. Great shops everywhere and you can even haggle pretty well around here. Military is a little strict around here as I found out when I tried to take a picture of them. But for the most part the people seem to not mind westerners although I do get stared at from time to time. Going next week to see the famous Terracota Warriors and slowly but surely my Mandarin is coming along. Catch ya'll later
