I LOVE Heidelberg
This was first an official meet-up but Ana was very busy, so she canceled this meet-up because there was no time to organize something for the TB's. I had already planned this trip to Heidelberg with Anna-Isabel and arranged a hostel, so we decided to go anyway. I put this on the forum and there were a few more who wanted to go watch the castle burning and the fireworks. We met there also Larry and his wife Claire, and Michael, which I had met already in Lima.
So we drove to Heidelberg in a lot of rain. I mean A LOT! Did didn't look good for this evening, but close to Heidelberg it stopt raining. We found the hostel very easy (my second time here) and we got a free parking spot.
This is great to see!
We were to early to meet the others so Anna-Isabel decided to take a look at the castle from the garden site. We walked back and then we saw Larry and Claire walking in the streets taking pictures. We said hello and together we walked to the meet-up point. We found Michael there, but this seemed not to be the right spot to meet Ana and her boyfriend brad, who had decided to meet us anyway. So we walked to the market place and found Ana. We had a few drinks at our hostel and then Ana and Brad, and Michael went home. But we would meet them again for diner. So the 4 of us walked to another square for some shopping ( a small pizza) and walked again to the castle. This time we entered through the exit, so it was free... It was already late and we couldn't see the big barrel inside. But the views from the castle were beautiful. At 8 we had diner with the others again and walked then to the other side of the Neckar river to watch the castle burning and the fireworks. This time I brought a tri-pot to take better pictures of the castle and the fireworks. It was again a beautiful scenery. We walked back to the center and had a few drinks with the group. This was again a great day in Heidelberg, and luckily no rain this evening.
