Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, Wadena, SK
We thought we would go to Saskatoon the long way around this time in order to see a few new things on our way home. We started on the morning of Friday 13th by driving through Tisdale and Archerwill to Rose Valley where we photographed St. Mary's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the grain elevator. After a short  stay, we continued down highway 35 to Wadena,  a larger town at the highway 5 junction.  On the way into Wadena, we noticed Scoop's Cafe and resolved to stop there for ice cream before we left town.

In Wadena, we photographed the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church and a modern Ukrainian Greek Catholic church.  The UGC church was a complete departure from the architectural conventions of Ukrainian churches we had seen up to that point. It employed angles and straight lines rather than curved onion shaped domes and natural material colours and textures rather than whitewashed wood and stone.

In a field near the Orthodox Church we found some antique farm tractors - and, of course, photographed them as well.  Then we kept our promise and stopped at Scoop's on the way out of town.
