Scooter tour around Isla Margarita.
June 23, 2008
Hello All,
Today I rented a scooter from a place on the beach at Playa El Agua. I had it for about five hours, and started out heading north. I promptly ended up getting chased by a couple of dogs until the road I was on disappeared. I found myself zipping through a field, until pushing my way back to a road.
I drove past several beautiful bays and beaches, and had the scooter at full throttle most of the time. The speedometer was broken, but I'm guessing I was going about 40kph. The farthest I went was just over the bridge to the other side of the island.
I stopped for lunch at Boca Del Rio, and then took another route through the hills to get back to Playa El Agua.
I hopped in the pool for a dip later, and met a couple of other Americans that were living in nearby Puerto La Cruz. They are in the oil industry, and said that Americans were very scare here. They also said that I had picked the best hotel in the area, so that made me feel pretty good.
I spent a good part of the evening on the internet making arrangements fro the next leg of the tour in Trinidad & Tobago. I reserved a rental car, which should be very interesting. They drive on the left side of the road, Britain style, and that will be my first crack at that. The rain hit later in the night, and certainly helped me get to sleep.
Later, Phil
