Countdown and packing
September 21, 2007
Sep 19, 2 days before we hop on the airplane! Lots of preparation still to be done. I am going to see how small a suitcase I can get away with. I carry a backpack of camera gear. It's silly but I always have to think about what camera(s) to take on trips. I will have a film camera, but also a small digital camera so I can get all those touristy photos.
Sep 20, we have to board the puppies today. It's hard to leave them. I suppose that's one reason why I can not go on real long trips. People have few or no attachments are lucky in this way.

Some of the useful things we are bringing on this trip:
- Diamox (prescription medicine for adapting to high altitudes)
- Purell (hand sanitizer)
- wet wipes (very useful!)
- packaged tissues and several travel size toilet papers (available at drugstores, also can be purchased in Lhasa)
- imodium
- hat (really necessary)
- sun block lotion (really necessary!)
- sun glasses (even a spare pair, I lost mine 5 days into Tibet!)
- flashlight (very useful)
- binoculars (optional, but great for looking at Everest!)
- Polaroid camera and film (a big hit in Tibet)
