Sep 19, 2 days before we hop on the airplane! Lots of preparation still to be done.  I am going to see how small a suitcase I can get away with. I carry a backpack of camera gear. It's silly but I always have to think about what camera(s) to take on trips. I will have a film camera, but also a small digital camera so I can get all those touristy photos.

Sep 20, we have to board the puppies today. It's hard to leave them. I suppose that's one reason why I can not go on real long trips. People have few or no attachments are lucky in this way.

Some of the useful things we are bringing on this trip:
  • Diamox (prescription medicine for adapting to high altitudes)
  • Purell (hand sanitizer)
  • wet wipes (very useful!)
  • packaged tissues and several travel size toilet papers (available at drugstores, also can be purchased in Lhasa)
  • imodium
  • hat (really necessary)
  • sun block lotion (really necessary!)
  • sun glasses (even a spare pair, I lost mine 5 days into Tibet!)
  • flashlight (very useful)
  • binoculars (optional, but great for looking at Everest!)
  • Polaroid camera and film (a big hit in Tibet)

Hi Portia! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Nepal as well, but maybe next year. You must be so psyched for this, and I'll be looking forward to your blog as your adventure unfolds. Enjoy yourself! :)
