Geno's Magical Mystery tour of Northern UK. I started in Aberdeen & hooned through Edinburgh, Newcastle, Durham, Whitby, Robin Hood Bay, Scarborough, Hull, York, Yorkshire Dales, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Lakes District and of course, made a quick visit to Wales to the town with the 2nd longest name in the World: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch What a beautiful trip it was: terrific scenery, an abundance of history and some very funny accents.

I travelled down the east coast to as far as Hull and then headed west towards York.

The driving was very green and beautiful and reaching York I was immediately struck with just how delightful this city is.

It's bustling, colourful, exceptionally green and extremely well preserved.

I wandered right around the city centre several times snapping away mad at all the cute and quant little old buildings. The city looks as though it hasnt been altered in a couple hundred years. And I applaud them for that.

The 'Shambles' is a particular famous alley that was once the haunt of the butchers. Now it's a modern strip of shops with some preciously leaning buildings and plenty of colour and character.

Whilst in York I also went on a night time Ghost tour which was pretty fun, just for the excessive punning of our guide alone.

The York Minster (Cathedral) is also a magnificent piece of work. It took over 250years to complete and would rival any of the great cathedrals in the world.

The railway museum was also great fun and very modern and well appointed.

I'd highly recommend York to any visitor to the UK as probably one of the more 'traditional / ye olde' type cities in the country.
