Today we decided to see some of the sights. We decided to go to the Petronas Twin Towers first as we heard it can get quite busy. When we arrived it turned out that you basically get a ticket (entrance was free) with a time on it, so you can come back at the alotted time. A great system as you can just go explore other things until your time has come. As it gets quite busy our time was quite a few hours away and we opted to get a taxi to the KL Tower and see it first.

The KL Tower is a radio tower which looks higher than the Petronas Twin Towers because it is situated on a hill. The view is quite spectacular and the area around that tower makes for a nice walk too. When we came back down we still had time to spare so we ended up going to the shopping centre beside the Petronas Twin Towers.

A very nice shopping centre with mostly brandname shops. The prices are quite high as well for KL standards so we didn't end up buying anything apart from lunch. The cafe's are all in the bottom of the shopping centre and there were Asian and Western options to choose from. We decided to go for a Malay sate, which is delicious!

We then walked around a little bit in the vicinity. There was a very nice pond at the bottom of the Twin Towers and a lot of people seemed to gather here for lunch.

Finally we got to go up the Twin Towers. There are escalators some of the way and lifts to take you up higher. Unfortunately due to 9/11 all the top floors were now empty and we could only go up as high as the bridge between the two towers, but this was still well worth the visit.

(A few years later I actually saw a documentary on the building of these towers and the work that went into them is just amazing!)

After enjoying the view from up here for a while we decided we had done enough walking for the day and got a taxi back to the hotel. Well this was certainly an experience! Traffic is KL is quite hectic and nobody seems to know where their indicators are located, they just wait for the tiniest gap in traffic and manage to manouver their car into it. How not more accidents happen I have no idea but we did not see one in the three days we were there.

The rest of the day we just relaxed a little bit, went for a swim, had dinner and after that did some shopping. Shop in KL don't open before 10am (if you're lucky!) but they are open until 10 or 11pm so that makes up for it!
