This day is spent touring the French quarters amidst some shopping. Visited St Joseph's Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake amongst others. The Hoan Kiem Lake aka Lake of the Restored Sword has an interesting story which revolved around a giant turtle and a sword that was restored. It is really popular among tourists and the water is calm and serene. However, I nearly had my cell phone picked if not for my alert friend who turned round and caught the thief red-handed. Else i will never get to see my phone again. Thus, it pays to be extra careful with your belongings when travelling. A place which offers nice food and cosy atmosphere is Pho24 where you can taste the authentic Vietnamese rice noodles. The prices are not steep either. The water puppet show is really not-to-be-missed. Locals and tourists alike were amused by the interesting antics of the puppets. These puppets took the form of dragons, buffaloes, people etc and were controlled by skillful puppeteers half submerged in water. You will get to see them at the end of the show as they greeted and thanked the audience. Also went to Xi Hu (West Lake), a beautiful vast catchment of water lie before our eyes. Went to places like Hang Gai street for some street shopping. The prices of lacquer and silver wear and silk weren't too cheap thus it was more of a window shopping experience for me.
