One week exploring all the things to do in and around Sacramento, CA.

GoldRush Sacramento

I'm not really a pioneering kind of person, but when you see all the things to do in Sacramento, and its rich tradition and association with California's goldrush, and the fascinating stories and well... Point is, you feel like grabbing a pail or a dredging machine or watever and go around looking for gold nuggets. For now, though, let's limit ourselves to just wandering around the relics and remaining vestiges of the great rush.

Here's what I plan to do. Spend a couple of days in Sacramento proper - Explore Old Town Sacramento and the Railroad Museum, the State Capitol (maybe I'll bump into Arnold and tell him 'Hasta LaVista'. Hopefully he won't bring out his tank and blow me to Kingdom come...), take in a film at the Esquire IMAX (tiny screens you have in Sacramento), dinner aboard the Delta King, Sutter's Fort and Sacramento Zoo and the Pony Express Museum. Lot more to see and do in Sacramento, but I'm not much of a museum fan or an art lover, so I'll probably spend more time in the nightclubs and restaurants and bars. One thing I am interested in is Jazz. I'll be digging out all the clubs and diners which offer live Jazz and posting reviews here.

After a couple of days of this, I plan to head down the Delta River for a taste of the real Sacramento. Not sure about the fish, or even if its allowed, considering the salmon ban, but we'll find out... If you can't hook a fish, you can always shoot the darn critter. With a lens.
