Monday I was going to try to make it all the way to Green Turtle, but decided to stop a little short at Crab Cay when the weather started looking a little rough. Probably had more than enough time to make it, but I'm all about staying comfortable and dry these days. So I did. I had a nice little beach all to myself for the night, however, it turns out this was an anchorage with very tragic endings for my camera.
The beach was great and I wanted to get a picture of the boat from shore. I tested my little waterproof pouch by putting toilet paper in it and submerging it in the sink. No problems. No water. So in went the camera. Apparently the bag becomes un-waterproof at any sort of depth. On my way into shore I dove down on the anchor just to make sure it was holding well. That must have been the moment it all went wrong. So now I am without a camera for the time being.
Tuesday it was time to finish the trip on into Green Turtle. Just a short sale this day; maybe 4 or 5 hours. Again, not much to tell about the trip in except that the wind was finally cooperating with me and I was able to sail, instead of motor, for most of the way in. Now I was finally there at the place I had been bound for since leaving Jacksonville, FL about 3 weeks earlier.
Green Turtle is a great island but there's so much to tell, I'm gonna save that for the next blog entry...
