Friday evening, May 16, was a special night in Monrovia, California. 20 TravBuddy friends gathered chatted, laughed, belly danced and smoked hookah pipes at the Mediterranean Garden Grill on West Foothills Blvd.

The open-air Mediterranean Garden Grill, located at the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, was a fabulous place for our group. Joy got the party off to a wonderful start by ordering a variety of Greek food that everyone eagerly shared.
Alice blessed all of the first-time Los Angeles pals by baking each newbie TravBuddy cookies. Then Joy, along with help from Erin, Jillian and eventually the whole gang, sent out toasts to friends around the world (it's amazing what some people will do to chug a little California wine).
Sharon (Montreal, Canada) and Will (North Charleston, South Carolina) were presented signed pink shirts for having traveled the furthest distance to attend the festivities. Lynette (New York, New York) was a close runner-up.
Later, several of us took turns trotting the boards with the restaurant’s belly dancer, including myself, Tiffany, Lynette, Alice and Melanie.
19 of us posed for group photos. We also took pictures of seven attendees of the November 2007 L.A. TravBuddy meetup: Angel, Erin, Jennifer, Melanie, Tracy, Will and myself. Soon after, Sal from Las Vegas arrived, raising our total to 20. His wonderful wackiness helped take the shindig into overdrive. J
Finally, everyone was given their own mouthpiece and smoked several different flavors from a multitude of Turkish hookah pipes.

The L.A. pre-party was the first time I used a camera that has been sitting in my closet for almost three years. Being the savvy photographer, I found out the next day that I took pics all night long without a flash. I want to graciously thank Eli (code173), Erin (poohstanggt), Jennifer (jenn79), Jillian (JillianJ), Joy (pvtjoy) and Melanie (mellemel8) for allowing me to steal some of their photos to better document the night’s shenanigans.
