The trees are closing in!!!
We drove inland a little ways in order to visit Tahquamenon Falls. We were told by many locals that it was definitely worth seeing. We first stopped at the park near the upper falls and walked along the boardwalk, enjoying the scent off the trees, the colorful flora and the sound of the roaring river beyond the tree line. We arrived at the lower falls and marveled at the power of the water as it flowed past us. We wondered why the water had such a strange hue to it only to find out later that when the water is high in the spring, the flowing water picks up sediment along the banks and carries it downstream. As the water levels drop into the summer months, the water runs clear.
We walked back to the car and drove farther down to the see the lower falls which are the larger of the two. Although they weren't Niagara Falls, they were still a sight to see.
At this time the sun would be setting soon and we wanted to make our way to Whitefish Point to see the sunset on Lake Superior.

Had to listen to the song...ya know, I've heard it dozens (hundreds?) of times, but never noticed the Whitefish Bay part...just some place that they would have made had they put 15 miles behind them. Didn't know it was the ships graveyard of Superior either...thanks for the history lesson. :-)

Yes, and if you recall the mention of Whitefish Bay in his song about the Edmund Fitzgerald...we headed to Whitefish Point...considered the ships' graveyard of Lake Superior.
