Lunch in Aix

Aix-en-Provence Travel Blog › entry 3 of 8 › view trip summary

After having spent 12 months travelling around the world, everyone was keen to ask us where we were going on honeymoon. I think that they were largely underwhelmed when we said "France", but we enjoyed it immensely!

Lunch in Aix

We picked up a hire car in Nice and whizzed down the motorway to Avignon via Aix. We stopped off for lunch in Aix and had a walk around the town centre.

It was fairly easy to find a nice underground car park almost right in the centre, and we were soon strolling through the pretty streets between stone buildings. We found a lovely shady square with a number of restaurants and settled in for a relaxing lunch. The food was pretty tasty.

After lunch we had a little stroll around the town. We found a patisserie where we got some little cakes to eat, and in another shop Zoe purchased some of the local speciality, calisson: small sweet almondy biscuity things; very delicately flavoured and very nice, if rather expensive.
