Mahalo Hawaii
For our last day in Hawaii, Mel and I decided to hire a car and drive around the island to have a look and sample some of the quieter beaches Oahu has to offer. Note to self: Check dates for public holidays before making plans for a quiet day on the beach. Today just happened to be Memorial Day in the States, and every man and his beach towel was out and about.
We still had a wonderful day. We headed out early and towards the east to see if we could catch the sunrise from Diamond Head. Mel was not in the mood for a hike so I found a spot to park the car on the side of the volcano, where we had a great view over the houses of Diamond Head, east to where the sun rose from behind the land and the ocean. I stood and watched the sunrise for ages, not able to get enough of the glorious view that was before me. I love a good sunrise. I prefer not to be out of bed at that time of the day, but when I am, I love the freshness of the air and the crispness of dawning day....
