Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay

...After witnessing the superb sunrise we continued east around the coast to Hanauma Bay, if you want to go snorkelling on Oahu, apparently this is the place to go. As Mel was hanging for breakfast and we were here quite early we didn’t stop for a swim, but I did take the time to take a few photos. If you do want to go snorkelling here, I recommend you do get here early as the parking lot often fills early and you will be turned away if it is full. You will also avoid long lines at the ticket booth by arriving early. There are entrance fees both for the car park and if you want to go further than the look out, so make sure you have some change on you. When I was there the car park fee was $1.00, which is refundable if leaving within 15 minutes, and for non-residents of Hawaii over the age of 13 to enter the lower preserve (beyond the scenic look out) it is $5.00 per person. We were early enough that we didn’t need to pay any fees at all...
