Out Into The Great Unknown
Early in the morning, we quietly took what ever supplies we could from the kitchen without anybody knowing and climbed into a dug out canoe and set of out into the great unknown that our guide hopefully knows quite well......
It was at this point we began to question our choice with our guide seeing as we didnt exactly hire him from a reputable travel agent or anything! The language barrier was beginning to show its face also despite his claimed ability to speak Portuguese, French, English, Spanish and German.
We set off just 3 men in a boat rowing along the mighty Amazon. After a few hours we stopped, brought the boat a shore and put all our supplies our backs before setting off on foot for the next few weeks.
After several long hot hours of marching and fighting our way through the jungle, we eventually came to what Deuzimar, our guide, called a clearing that would be our home for the night. We cleared away much of the overgrowth and hung up our hammocks and set about cooking a meal fight for a tribal king or least some travel weary Europeans.
