Once is not enough for a travbuddy meet up :)
Singapore Travbuddy Meet up - Jan 30 & 31, 2008
This meet up would not have been possible if it weren't for Shaun. He was visiting to Singapore and contacted me and Winnie if we could meet up. I was happy to organize, of course, and so together with our other travbuddy friends, we rocked Singapore with the travbuddy spirit. ;)
Shaun (milltownmeadow)
Chris (abubu)
Apo (planisphere)
Winnie (lonelytravelerwin)

Day 1 - Jan 30, 2008 @ Harry's bar, Esplanade Mall (Shaun, Winnie, Florianne, Apo, Chris and Diovie)
It was like good old friends meeting up. We never had any awkward moment at all, even from the start we all were comfortable with each other. It was even fun to know what a small world it is when we learned that we were connected already to each other even outside travbuddy: Chris was my sister's classmate from University, Chris' classmate from Highschool was Apo and Diovie's common friend, and I would later find out that Winnie's housemate is my colleague. It was an interesting and fun night, we talked about various things (and I ate a lot, hehe), from our travels to other things more personal *wink* wink* :) especially why we need to look each other in the eye when doing cheers with our drinks, hahaha :P Winnie is such a cool Singaporean, and mixed it up with the Filipino residents of Singapore like me, Apo, Diovie and Chris, we could relate to so many things about life in Singapore. Shaun is a pure delight to be with, with lots of interesting stories from Canada and Europe and his amazing "naturally Asian" talent that's really jaw dropping (you can only know it when you meet him in person, hehehe ;-)
Day 2 - Jan 31, 2008 @ 7,107 Flavors Restaurant, Marina Center (Shaun, Florianne, Apo and Diovie)
We so enjoyed the first travbuddy meet up night that we decided to meet again the following night. Since most of us were Filipinos (me, Apo, Chris and Diovie), we thought of giving Shaun and Winnie some preview of Filipino cuisine. However, Winnie was not available that night and Chris had to do some overtime at work so it was only just me, Apo, Diovie and Shaun. We had a sumptous dinner where we all enjoyed the delicious food and a bottle of wine at 7,107 Flavors restaurant. After dinner, the night was still young so we made some sight seeing and picture taking for Shaun and had some drinks at Indochine bar at the Asian Civilisations Museum where we again had lots of conversations about many interesting topics *wink*wink*
It was indeed such a wonderful event, a blending of cultures and a formation of friendship, bridging the virtual world with reality.
