Perhaps the main reason I decided to go to Israel was to visit the various Israeli mates I met on my travels. Where ever you go on holidays, it seems that you will almost always encounter an Israeli backpacker somewhere. I have met many on my travels. I travelled with the lovely Lihi and extraordinary Omri around the Nord Este of Brazil and then randomly met Eyal in Africa and travelled much of Southern Africa together. These 3 in particular were a strong enough reason alone for me to make my way to Israel.
Eyal & Omri were unfortunately over in the states on holidays but Lihi was still there so I went to her home town of Haifa for a few days to meet her. It was amazing to meet her again especially two years after our great time in Pipa, Brazil. We got on so well that it was as if we hadnt been apart for the previous two years.
The next night, Lihi couldnt come out but I really wanted to go out for the night anyway so back in the hostel I started inviting people. Actually, I met a lovely Swedish girl there but claimed she was gonna go asleep but when she say the internationally mixed group I managed to assemble she finally gave in. We had France, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and American all represented (there were a few others that I cant remember at the moment :o( ). It was a great night. I love those random nights that just sort of happen and everybody gets on.
They were a great group to spend time with and all full of so many different stories and experiences which can sometimes be the best part about travelling. After awhile they all began to get tired and went off to bed (at around 11 in the night!!) but thankfully Anna felt bad leaving me on my own so we stayed out until the early hours of the morning, talking and laughing the night away.
Such a lovely city with so much to see and do. I also met some other lovely people there, in particular Ana, Franck, Shoshana and of course Maya.
