After 5 months in the USA it's time to settle down for a while, build the finances back up... and hopefully have some adventures along the way!

up north in England

Hadrian's Wall / Houseteads Fort

I was up & out early yesterday morning & jumped on an 8hr bus ride to Newcastle-upon-Tyne (not my idea of a party, but I managed to keep myself entertained).  I met up with Mum, who was of course overjoyed to see her only daughter after nearly a year away, and we are staying with Matt & Julia King.  It has been fab to seem them, as I don't think I've seen them since they left Australia, plus we got to meet baby Lara, who is my new best friend!

Julia took us on a brief sightseeing stroll through Newcastle this morning, then we headed out to Hadrian's Wall to see old piles of rocks & the ruins of Roman forts etc.  It was actually quite interesting, and of course it's bizarre to think someone thought building a wall right across England was a good idea (and amazing that they actually finished it).
