our Beefeater guide describing hanging, drawing & quartering... (me trying not to faint)

My last day as a resident in London is suddenly upon me - it does seem to have come around rather fast.  I managed to cram some last-minute sightseeing in on Friday, at the Tower of London - there's so many different parts to it, and it is a rather impressive structure.  I took one of the famous Beefeater (Yeoman Warder) tours, which was very entertaining - although I did find myself having to kneel down quite suddenly to avoid fainting when he gave a description (with great gusto) of how people were hung, drawn and quartered.

I spent the rest of the weekend organising & shopping & packing (and then un-packing again, because although it was very warm on Thu/Fri, by Monday it was back to freezing with rain & wind again).

Tuesday I had one last night out with my colleagues, just some quiet farewell drinks - always entertaining to see how everyone feels the next morning (in this case we all looked a little under the weather!).

And now my last day is here & everything is packed & suddenly I'm quite sad to be leaving & keep thinking maybe I should come back later in the year… but I know that I don't want to endure another grey English winter, and it's the people I'm sad to be leaving (shout out to my Hovel in Hendon girls!) and they're all moving on too, so it's time to go…
