Getting drunk...

Ok, 'sacked' is not the way they put it....we have officially been 'left off'. The owners of Peter's of Kensingon did not like us much though so we were waiting for this to happen. They tried to blame John for a suitcase that someone stole from outside the warehouse door., which was not his fault in the slightest.  Well, maybe a little!  He's supposed to bring stock from a warehouse about 200 meters down the street from the shop.  They are expected to use trolleys that cannot be securely locked, and cannot be brought inside becaue there are two steps leading up to the warehouse door.  So there is no option sometimes to leave some stock outside while you grab some more, because they wont pay to install a ramp.  John was doing this, bringing out stock and returning for more, and in the few minutes he was gone some desendant of one of the original convicts made off with a suitcase he left in a trolley outside!  In broad daylight!  Shocking.

With my teapot cocktail.

They expect the front counter staff (that's where I work) to stay on and serve the last of the customers before we go home. The shop closes at 5:30, they make the announcement to the customers that the stor has closed at 5:40 and then like 20 to 30 customers with basket loads of stock come down the stairs looking for EVERY item to be giftwrapped! All this and we do NOT get paid for overtime!! Sometimes you don't leave the shop until 6:25!! And all this work unpaid! Well, I had stopped staying behind since the owners charged me freight to send an item to a customer because the girl who took over m sale and told me to go on lunch forgot to put it in the bag! It wasn't even my fault and they knew this because they watch the front counter staff ALL day long on the 35 cameras they have watching over the 8 tills.

Looking interested in the conversation.
...35 cameras there but not one outside the warehouse door where the suitcase was taken..."What should we do?" a supervisor asked John "put up a wanted poster?" to which John replied "well, in my country we would call the police"....they don't wanna do that because there are too many illegal immigrants working there for peanuts.

Any case, we were leaving on Christmas Eve anyway as we have booked our 'hop-on-hop-off' bus up the Sunshine and Gold Coasts then Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef on Jan 3rd....so, we were hapy to have a rest ready for the Gatecrasher rave on Bondi Beach on Christmas Day.

Also, here are a few pics of the night out we had with our flatmates...mostly Irish (everyone is over here) 2 Northen Irish girls, 3 nurses from Cork, 2 lads from Dublin and an Englishman. We went to the World Bar and they were having an 'indie night' so lots of Snow Patrol, Oasis, the Killers, Kaiser Chiefs etc...And you get your cocktail served in a teapot! It's up to you how you drink it...through the spout or with the little shot glasses they give you....good laugh!
