into the unknown

short fly over the emerald colored mountains, i landed in Vientiane, more of a small town along the Mekong than a capital.  everything closes at 11pm and streets are dotted with guesthouses, semi western restaurants, internet cafes and foot massage shops.  when i was eating my lunch, two small local boys came over and begged for food.  usually i do not give in the beggers but then i saw the smaller of the two boys, maybe 5 year old, is stealing a few grains of rice from my leftovers.  that got to me and gestured them to sit down in front of me and bought them a couple of dishes.

apparently, Vientiane also has its own share of "lady boys".  when i was walking back to the hostel from internet cafe, a girl ran up to say hello.  first i noticed that she has very well proportioned body and then noticed the deep voice saying "i go with you..."  i got the hell out of there as fast i could.
