Every year, this year for the 11Th time, i go to Luxembourg to walk the marche de 'l armee. It's a one or two days walk, and you can choose between three distances. 12km, 20 km and 40 km. The 12 and 20 km you can choose for one day or two day's, the 40 km it's only two days. I always walk for one day, sometimes on Saturday and the another year i walk on Sunday. So i can see two different routes.

The start of the route is in Diekirch and leaving the city the first long climb uphill starts. At the and of the climb the first drinking place of the Luxembourg army is located 5km after the start. After another 5 km in the Forrest you find the first commercial resting place with beer, brathwurst and hamburgers, loud music and here the first persons have there first beer and brathwurst at 10am.

Over the bridge and up we go
After walking through the Forrest a long descent starts and later a long flat road you have to follow. And then, crossing the bridge and see the big hill in front of you and know, now the fun begins. A long uphill climb with sharp curves and beautiful views just on the middle of the route.

Following the country side for a couple of miles Diekirch will come in sight. The only thing left is a 13% downhill road into the city as a dessert. The finish is a place with live music, eating and drinking and meeting new people.

This year the marche is held in the  last weekend  of may. (29 and 30 may)
