I got the chance to escort someone up to Iraqi President Talabani's guest house near Kirkuk in Northern Iraq.

Hangin with the President (of Iraq)

The majority of the time when you hear stories from Iraq it is of unpleasant things.  People generally think stories of getting shot at or bombs going off are much cooler.  I personally enjoy the peaceful times alot more.  Once such instance was when I was escorting someone around Northern Iraq.   The Kurdish regions of Iraq are very pleasant.   The people are friendly, there is a much lower threat level since the KPD polices the area, and the countryside is beautiful.  I generally will always volunteer to head up that way if given the opportunity.  In March of 2007 I had the opportunity to going to President Jalal Talabani's house near Kirkuk for a dinner.  I did not actually get to eat with the President himself, of course, but it was still a treat being there at his residence.  I was able to take a couple of pictures of the area which I think is one of the most picturesque in all of Iraq.  I wanted post a couple of these pictures on here since I had been talking to another guy on here that has been working in that area with the military.

good story! I use to work at BAMC in the burn unit, I got first hand accounts of the unplesantries that went on over there! I like this kind of story much better.
