going to the Metro Station

The transfer was supposed to drive us back to the hotel. But the driver was really kind and she had the same last name as me, hahaha, so I asked her if she could leave us at Suipacha St, instead of going to the hotel. She agreed. At Suipacha you will find the Cashmere Outlets and also other Leather shops. My mom found the sweaters she was looking for. I got gloves, cute sandals and a present for grandpa.

We were still missing my brother’s ties. Mmm, before leaving the hotel I checked the store’s website and got the address. So, time to go to another mall. But before going we stopped at a Havanna’s Store. If you are in Buenos Aires, the Havanna’s Alfajores are a MUST! We bought a couple of boxes for the friends and family.

We kept on moving but mom didn’t ask me anything about how to go to the mall. She just asked me where the closest metro stop was, hahaha. She was learning fast ;) I was checking the map downstairs, when a man approached and asked us where we were going. I answered him and he told us he was going in the same direction, hahaha. He was very polite and kind, a gentleman, explaining us about the city and how to go to the mall after leaving the metro station. He drove with us almost the whole way. It was almost 2pm, so we decided to go straight to the food court and then look for the “famous” store. In our way to the food court I found the store, so first buying the ties for my brother and dad and then go to eat. We ate light, because a big dinner was in the agenda. We had some bags, so decided to go back to the hotel and leave them. Also it was getting cooler and I needed something warmer if we wanted to keep on walking around.
with mom in Retiro

After getting a jacket we decided to go to Retiro and Recoleta. I don’t need to say we go with the Metro. Mom was a fan of the Metro, haha. In Retiro I found a wine store and I HAD TO buy wine here, hehe. I didn’t care about the fact of being walking carrying bottles of wine, hahaha. Well, we took a cab from Retiro to Recoleta. There is no metro station there. We visited Nuestra Sra. Del Pilar Church and took a walk through Francia Square. There was a small fair there. But we couldn’t spend much money. I spent almost all my pesos and so did mom. We just had dollars. Well, at least I had enough for the taxi to the Metro Station and for the Metro.

We arrived to the hotel and first thing I did was checking our funds! Ooops, no pesos to go to Puerto Madero! We were going to have a fancy and delicious meal there.

That was my plan since the beginning. So we asked for a remisse. It was US$10. Expensive for the average prices here, but we didn’t care, we were going to a very nice dinner. We drove to Puerto Madero, which is the newest area of the city. If I was thinking Retiro was expensive, Puerto Madero is super expensive. This area is a narrow urbanized stripe that connects 4 docks with cared boulevards, wide avenues and a rich offer of restaurants and bars. But we knew where to go: “Cabaña las Lilas”. There might be as good places as this, but this is a tradition here. I tried to make a reservation by phone, but it was too late. They told me just to show up. Well we had to wait about 45min in order to get a table, but it was worth. Everything was perfect, great environment, delicious food, good atmosphere, excellent service, etc. And while we were waiting, we walked around the docks.
enjoying our meal :P
Although it was a bit cold, we enjoyed the view.

After a great meal and feeling really full, we drove back to the hotel. I paid with the credit card and asked the waiter to exchange some cash, hehe. So, we had pesos for the cab. I decided to climb the stairs, just to feel not so guilty after the wine and meat. We were tired, but didn’t go straight to bed. Before that we packed everything and left our suitcases almost ready. The next day was our last one and we were leaving with a tour early, so we would wake up early, check out and leave our bags at the frontdesk. Around midnight we were ready, time to go to sleep… zzz
