French Embassy

Around 1:40pm we arrived to Buenos Aires City. The tour ended in the city. The bus would stop in 2 places. At the French Embassy in Recoleta. This stop was made for the people who wanted to visit the fair and enjoy a nice lunch there. My mom and I were still full from our delicious dinner from the night before :P . So, we waited for the other stop: “Galerias Pacifico”, a nice mall located in Retiro walking distance away from Plaza Mayo.

We didn’t plan do shopping. We have already finished packing early in the morning. But I wanted to visit the mall, because it’s located in an antique building, which is just a jewel.

Inside you are able to find old murals and fountains, next to trendy stores :) We had lunch at the food court. We just had something light. I just ate a salad, but couldn’t say no to a delicious and yummy alfajor, hahaha. What a diet! Hahaha. We were ready with Galerias Pacifico and decided to go to Pza Mayo. It was May 25th and a big celebration might be going on there. We were just walking distance from Pza Mayo, so I suggested just to walk through Florida and enjoy the city – our last hours there.

I was going to the right and mom told me we should go in the other direction. I’m glad she noticed I was doing something wrong. We still had some pesos with us and I wanted to get rid of them before living Buenos Aires.

So we bought another box of Alfajores and some souvenirs we were missing. We kept on walking and I was wondering why didn’t we listen to any kind of celebration? Well, the answer was so simple. We were at the opposite site of the street, haha. I just started to laugh and my mom said it wasn’t her fault, because I was in charge. What to do now? Easy, just turn back and start walking a bit faster because it was getting late.

I couldn’t help it and bought some for myself in our way to Pza Mayo. Finally we arrived, but we couldn’t stay longer, because it was late for us to go to the hotel. The transfer to the airport will be there for us at 4:30pm and it was 4:15pm. From Pza. Mayo to the hotel wasn’t far away at all, maybe just 7 blocks, but my mom didn’t want to walk anymore. Not any single step. I have to be honest.

I was glad she told me, the only way she was going back to the hotel was driving a cab, hahaha. My feet were killing me. Yes, it was not the smartest idea wearing high heals. We arrived to the hotel in less than 5 minutes. My mom has time to change her clothes and I had time to take out my coat and packed my jacket. We got rid of almost all our pesos and were ready to leave the hotel, but not this wonderful city.

The transfer came for us and drove to the airport. We were doing the line and I heard a woman was complaining about the fact our flight was delayed. She was really pissed off. We went to the counter in order to check in and the girl asked for our flight number. I just told her: “our flight was supposed to leave at 8 pm to Lima, but I guess we would stay here longer.

Ezeiza Airport
” She smiled and said: “oh! You have already heard about the news! Good I don’t have to explain everything!” I guess, the poor girl had to deal with a lot of pissed off people before and after us. She gave us coupons for a free dinner at one of the restaurants and thanked us for our patience. Well, it was not her fault, so why giving her a hard time?

We had plenty of time. I went to the tax refund. I did the line and when I have finally arrived to the window. The girl told me I should get a stamp on my receipts. Oh!!! It was downstairs. The refund wouldn’t be a lot of money, but I was counting with that to pay taxes. So my mom stayed upstairs doing the line – again! – while I went downstairs to get the stamps. After a while I was finally back and could get my money back. It was still early: 6:45pm. My mom wanted to go to the chapel, so we agreed to meet at the chapel’s door in an hour.

waiting for our free dinner, hehe
I went downstairs again. While I was there I noticed a wine store, hehe. I saw my favorite one, so I got 2 bottles, hehe. I went upstairs again and packed the bottles in my carry on luggage. I met mom, we took a sit for a while and then we went to the restaurant for our dinner.

We checked the menu and I was thinking what to order. I showed the waiter the coupons and he said the dinner was Mini-beef, we could choose our side: salad or French fries. We both got the salad and our sodas. After mom got a piece of cake and I got my fruit salad. Well, dessert wasn’t included, but we had pesos after getting the taxes back. During dinner a woman was complaining so loud against Lan, because she was supposed to go to Lima the night before, but her flight was cancelled.

well, it was for free, hehe
She was rescheduled for the next day and now the flight was delayed. Oh oh!!!

We decided it was time to go through customs. We paid our taxes, spent our last pesos there. I just kept 20 for my next time in Buenos Aires – hopefully later this year ;) And went to our gate. It was too early to board. The flight was announced for 11:50pm and it wasn’t even 10pm. Ok, time to rest and relax. Finally at 11:30pm we started boarding. All the passengers got a gift box, because of all the inconveniences caused. I was just thinking we had to work next day and we were really tired. Mom slept the whole time at the plane. I wanted to do the same, but I ended watching a movie and sleeping but not so long…

Ok, we were flying back home. Our Buenos Aires’ adventure was getting over…
