Julz, me, and Tracy after our Dim Sum

Originally I was supposed to be at a winery picnic up in the Sierra Foothills but when Tracy (Tre69) announced she was coming into town for the weekend and wanted to get together with the BABs (well at least 2/3 of us lol), I couldn't say no!  Julz took the lead on finding a lunch spot (thanks Julz!!) and found a recommended Dim Sum place in San Mateo along with Fro yo and Boba options! SWEET.  No luck with the cupcakes though...Fro Yo and Boba are good!

For once I wasn't the one who was late (ha ha) and was standing on the street corner waiting for them when I hear this honking and loud girls....Hmmm, don't need to guess who that is going to be driving by! :D  We got inside the Joy Luck Place and OMG.

shrimp and pork balls
..we had dim sum karma - no waiting!  It was a huge place, very modern, and open feeling as the big windows to the street let in considerable light.

Poof, the trays start coming around...shrimp, shrimp, and more shrimp it seemed like.  Well, we didn't have Ms. Melanie and her shrimp allergy but we did still have Julz and her overall seafood adversion!  Tracy and I both like shrimp so let's go for it!  She ordered these shrimp balls on a sugar cane skewer.  Good grief were they yummy!  Food kept coming and we kept ordering.....seaweed salad, chow mein noodles, pork this, pork that, duck, and finally some type of sweet bun that Tracy recommended.  OMG, YUM! Poor Julz though....we never saw traditional pot stickers! :-(

We paid the bill and as we were sitting there discussing whether we would get Boba, Fro Yo or both.

Dirty mouth! LOL. Look at all those singles...Julz, what have you been up to?!?!
....I get a text from the diet killer herself, wanting to know what kind of Boba I ordered. I looked at Julz and said how did she know we were going for Boba?!?! We had planned to retaliate for all the evil phone pix Melanie sends of food and desserts and send our own back of FroYo and Boba....so we made sure she didn't know what our foodie plans were for the day! So I texted her back asking her what made her think I ordered Boba?!?! Come to find out, she was finishing up the blog from her visit that day and wanted to know what kind of Boba we had that day! LOL.  Ooooops!

We walked around the corner to the Fro Yo and Boba place...interesting.  A little tiny place called Quickly. They also served various dishes as well so it had a pretty big menu.

A few of our choices...LOL
Julz and I had the sorta deer in the headlight thing going so we are still Boba lightweights.  We saw the Fro Yo which is the tart yogurt that is meant to compete with the Pinkberry's and Red Mango's of the world.  Julz and I decide to go with Boba...creatures of habit already, we settle in for the Passion Fruit Milk Tea, just like last time.  Now it was time to torture Melanie back with pics of Fro Yo and Boba. Hee Hee.

We decided to wander around a bit to walk off the Fro Yo and Boba....This little main street area of San Mateo was very cute and interesting - neat store windows and architecture.  We found a store next door to the Fro Yo place that appeared to be a prescription eyeglass store and in the window was the sign "free frozen yogurt samples"  HUH?  We walked in and sure enough, this place was a combo eyeglass store with a refreshing bar - complete with tart yogurt and lots of toppings to choose from.

Mmmmm....Fro Yo!
OMG, how interesting.  Will this be the wave of the future?  Nail salons with fro yo?  Oil changes and fro yo?  Geez, anything else I can think of errands wise while I can sit there and eat fro yo while I wait for them to be done!  Perhaps I should just consider trying to put my own fro yo machine in the house....hmmmmm.

Last stop was Starbucks to use the restroom before getting on the road and we sat and chatted a bit more.  I found Julz soulmate but she let him go out the door without so much as a second glance. LOL.  Interesting people watching...especially the lady with the wet spot on her butt! LOL.

I was sad to say bye to the girls...Tracy had to get back for a dress fitting and I had a meeting with a winemaker that evening to talk about my wine group actually making our very first wine - so excited!   I had barely walked to my car and already missed them.

Boba girls!!
....Tracy I know I will see very shortly in LA but Julz not for a bit..WAHHHH!  I love my BABs (even tho we may need to put Jillian's face on milk carton and offer a reward for her safe return..ha ha) and miss seeing them more regularly!
